"My job as a designer is to work closely with my clients to understand their practical needs, uncover their aesthetic and create a unique design that reflects their family perfectly."

Cori Moore,  Founder + Principal Designer

hi there, I'm Cori //

Influenced by a childhood surrounded by artistic souls, there was a certain inevitability that I would one day pursue a creative field. When preparing for my future, and identifying how my passions may translate into a career, I quickly discovered that Interior Design was my calling.

In the spring of 2013, I graduated from High Point University with a Bachelors Degree in Interior Design, and a minor in Graphic Design. And although there were numerous job opportunities at my fingertips—in the furniture capital of the world—I knew I wanted to move back to my small town at the beach. That fall, after graduation, I accepted a job offer with a local builder where I gained valuable experience designing residential interiors.

After nine years of assisting hundreds of clients with material selections for their dream homes, my husband and I welcomed our first baby together, as a blended family.  It was then that I decided to step away from a job that I loved, to be a stay at home mama, with the mindset that I would take my design career to the next level and start my own business when the timing felt right.

The transition to launching Chic Surroundings, LLC was a natural one.  My experience translating conversations and visions into one-of-a-kind spaces presented the opportunity for me to confidently branch out on my own.

Throughout my childhood (and now adult life) I've always trusted my intuition, so much that nothing is ever quite settled until I get that gut feeling that it's the right decision, selection, or whatever it might be.  My natural intuition, coupled with patience (probably the more important component at times) have brought me much success in my career, because I truly understand that every decision my clients make, for their new home, has to feel right.

Design requires thoughtfulness, and because no two projects are the same, and every one of my client's aesthetic varies, design often takes time.  My goal is that all of my clients get the same gut feeling I do when the design concept for their new home comes to fruition.  So, trust me when I say we won't stop designing until it feels right!

I hope to have the honor of transforming your home into a space you'll love for years to come!

Sincerely,
